The second annual Asbury Park Half
Marathon proved to be very popular this year with 600 plus participants.
The race started on the south side of Asbury Park Convention Hall and proceeded
south through Ocean Grove, Bradley Beach and into Avon. In Avon the
runners had a choice of turning around doing a three loop course or proceeding
south for a single out and back course which took them into Belmar, Spring Lake
and a turn around in Sea Girt.
For the men the winner shown finishing on the left was Alphonse Rispoli of Hoboken in a time 1:25:34 of and for the women shown on the right the winner in a time of 1:32:40 was Stacy Meitzler of Milan, Pa.

The weather forecast on Friday was a bit ominous for the 14th Annual Jersey Shore Relay held on Saturday, April 17 but it turned out to be an aweesome day for the runners. With the start in Seaside Heights the 450 plus teams and a handful of participants in the iron division made their way along the Jersey Shore towns in Ocean and Monmouth Counties to include: Seaside Hts, Ortley Beach, Brick Beach, Manatloking, Bay Head, Poit Pleasant Beach, Brielle, Manasquan, Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Belmar, Avon by the Sea, Bradley Beach, Ocean Grove and a finish in Asbury Park.
The overall winning team shown on the left repeating from last year was BPC - 2:25:46 (Dave Slavinski, Pt. Pleasant, Matt Kemple, Belmar, Joe Rooney, Howell, Joe Donahue, Pt. Pleasant). Other winning teams were.
Thanks to the many volunteers who assisted in the event.

Saturday April 18, 2009 - The 1st Annual RunAPalooza!
It was a truly glorious day for the First Annual runAPalooza of events at the Jersey Shore all ending up in Asbury Park.
Over 3500 participants in the three events of the Asbury Park Half Marathon, Jersey Shore Relay and runAPalooza Walk. Giant party inside and outside of Convention Hall with bands, food and drink.
The weather could not have been better for the participants and all the volunteers who made for a truly memorable event.
